Focus on : AFGHANISTAN ( I )

Since I am fascinated by all things “cultural” I will try to concentrate on a specific country for a month or so, and learn (and write) as much as I can on its jewelry, craftsmanship, artistry and so on and so forth. Years ago (1999), the  Spanish daily ABC published, in toto, John Paul II’s “Letter to the Artists”  which  I read and never forgot…!!  And, although he specifically wrote of Christian/Catholic influences I think its message transcends to all cultures and faiths… He began his “Letter” with the following dedication…

To all who are passionately dedicated to the search for new “epiphanies” of beauty so that through their creative work as artists they may offer these as gifts to the world.

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good” (Gn 1:31)

The first country (listed in alphabetical order on is AFGHANISTAN and I don’t have to go too far in my research…. I am fortunate that my sister Barbara Dillon Hillas has published many an interesting fact on the country on her Blog Dum Spiro I invite you to visit it…and get her impressions….
